I know some of you are educators -- mentors shaping young minds. And some of you are parents or grandparents -- guardians of young minds in the process of being shaped. And some of us are . . . well, let's go ahead and admit it . . . just old, yet still in possession of an immature mind that is unfortunately probably well beyond shaping at this point.

In any case, I think we can all agree that we want America's children to be happy, and we want them to grow up to be successful adults, if only so they don't rob us when they're big and we're too old and frail to defend ourselves. Also, I think we all want Mark to grow up to be a successful author too, right?

That's why I wanted to let you know about an upcoming "young adult" anthology entitled Spirited, which is donating all proceeds to 826 National, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 - 18 with their writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.

And, yes, I've got a story in it too, so that's a bonus (for me at least). But have no fear, there are real authors involved as well!

The electronic version comes out on October 31st, 2011 and for old-time traditionalists like me, the print version comes out in March 2012.

Below are links to info if anyone is interested in saving the children, or saving Mark from a lifetime of government servitude. At very least you can get on that facebook thingy and click the "like" button -- is that too much to ask in order to rescue America's youth from illiteracy, and America's elderly from getting mugged?
